Lonely

Loneliness called me late last night
I knew that call would soon come
I was drowning in daydreams of us in your bedroom
and then my thoughts of you started to flood

I let your voice echo in my head
counting the minutes of when I could hear it again

drowning

                    drowning

in the ins and outs of your laugh
of that distant moment of you in my hand

How do I lock my heart from you?
I don’t want you coming any closer
all I do is sink deeper each day
I just can’t stand us being over

1,000 miles away
you said

and now look
1,000 miles away is dead

All these miles without you
and now loneliness is what I have instead
